Tea party members from around the state Tuesday rallied on the Capitol steps in Frankfort and heared U.S. Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul speak against the Affordable Care Act.
Crowd estimates ranged from 300-500 people at the event organized by the Louisville Tea Party.
McConnell began his four minute speech by thanking the crowd for sending [Sen. Rand] Paul to the U.S. Senate.
McConnell then attacked the Affordable Care Act as the worst piece of legislation passed in modern times and the “single biggest step in the direction of Europeanizing America, because if the government ever gets its clutches on all the health care of all 306 million Americans, which it will have if Obamacare stands, the government controls the most important concern all of us in the end have–our own health and the health of our family handed over to a centralized government.”
If Republicans take the majority in the U.S. Senate, repealing the Affordable Care Act would be the top priority, McConnell said.
