As Grimes Travels Close To Obama, The President Confirms That A Vote For His Kentucky Candidate Is A Vote For ‘Every Single One’ Of His Policies

LOUISVILLE – Team Mitch released the following statement and background information on Barack Obama traveling close to his Kentucky candidate, Alison Lundergan Grimes on Friday.

“Last night President Obama confirmed what most Kentuckians already knew; that a vote for Alison Lundergan Grimes is a vote for every single one of his policies. He knows that a Senate Majority Leader McConnell wouldn’t let him run roughshod over the coal industry so he wants Grimes instead.” Said Team Mitch spokeswoman Allison Moore.

Obama Policies Hurt Kentucky

In June The Obama Administration Announced Regulations On Carbon Emissions From Power Plants. “That began to change Monday when President Barack Obama's administration announced its boldest step yet to reduce the nation's biggest source of pollution blamed for global warming -- carbon emission from power plants. A proposed new Environmental Protection Agency rule would reduce such emissions 30% by 2030, compared to the levels in 2005.”  (Tom Cohen, Josh Levs, Kevin Bohn, Erin McPike, “Obama's big environmental move: Power plants to cut carbon pollution,” CNN, 6/2/14)

EPA Officials Admit Obama’s Carbon Regulations Will Shut Down Coal Plants. “EPA officials concede some of the dirtiest power plants now operating, such as older coal-fired plants, will end up shuttered as the nation shifts its reliance from traditional fossil fuel sources to cleaner alternatives. (Tom Cohen, Josh Levs, Kevin Bohn, Erin McPike, “Obama's big environmental move: Power plants to cut carbon pollution,” CNN, 6/2/14)

Obama’s Carbon Regulations Will Reduce Coal’s Usage In The United States. “Coal supplied 37% of U.S. electricity in 2012, compared to 30% from natural gas, 19% from nuclear power plants, 7% from hydropower sources such as dams and 5% from renewable sources such as wind and solar, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. By 2030, just over 30% of U.S. electricity will come from coal and about the same amount from natural gas, with wind, solar and other alternative sources providing about 9%, according to the EPA officials who spoke to reporters on Monday on the condition of not being identified.” (Tom Cohen, Josh Levs, Kevin Bohn, Erin McPike, “Obama's big environmental move: Power plants to cut carbon pollution,” CNN, 6/2/14)

14,000 Kentuckians Are Going To See Their Health Insurance Plans Cancelled Because Of Obamacare. “The possible political consequences are clear in states like Kentucky, where Senate Minority Leader and leading ObamaCare critic Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is defending his seat against Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes.  Nearly 14,000 people in the state are set to lose their health plans, most of which are offered by Humana, the Morning Consult reported. (Elise Viebeck, “More plan cancellations coming before the elections,” The Hill, 9/30/14)
